Recent rainfall and humidity helped firefighters working on several Oregon wildfires, known as the Douglas Complex fires, Friday and Saturday, and the complex is now 48 percent contained, according to the Oregon Department of Forestry.

Some parts of the 44,411-acre complex north of Glendale saw rain Saturday afternoon. A fire camp at Glendale High School got 1.28 inches of rain and hail in 28 minutes. The fireline also saw hail and lightning.

The fires were less active overnight due to the rainfall, according to the department.

Seven minor injuries have been reported, according to the department. Two outbuildings have burned so far, though no homes have been destroyed. Homes, commercial timber land and wildlife habitats all remain at risk, according to the department. Crews are facing hazards that include foggy and smoky conditions, falling boulders and debris and narrow roads.

The Douglas Complex consists of three fires: Rabbit Mountain, Dad’s Creek and Farmer’s. The fires were sparked by lightning July 26.
